On
February 15, 2004 our church family embarked on one of the most significant
periods of personal spiritual growth in the history of this church:
"40 Days of Purpose".
The
primary reason for conducting a "40 Days of Purpose" campaign
was to help participants answer the question, "What on earth am
I here for?" As a part of the campaign, on Sunday, March 21, we
held a "Ministry and Missions Fair" designed to help campaign
participants answer that question.
The Fair was structured somewhat like a Job Fair. However, instead of
employers, we had ministries and missions showcase what they do, describe
their volunteer roles, and invite people to join; and instead of job
applicants, we had volunteers who were able to explore where their gifts
and talents might best be used within various ministries and missions.
The theme we selected for the Fair was, "Get
in the Game!" Our message to Fair attendees
was that volunteering to serve in a ministry or mission is like joining
the "team".
